Intercept exists to remove the setup work from instrument-approach practice in X-Plane 12. Getting a jet airborne, correctly configured, and established at the selected approach start takes time every single run. Intercept does that part for you, then hands you a ready aircraft so you can practice the approach itself.
It is a desktop application paired with a native X-Plane plugin. The app drives the simulated aircraft directly, so the state it sets is the real state of the aircraft, not a saved situation dropped onto the runway.
Where it is
Intercept is in active 1.17 Alpha with ILS and RNAV/RNP approach support for the ToLiss A319, A320, and A321 on X-Plane 12 for Windows. It is free while it's in alpha, open to anyone who signs up while tester spots are available. A licensed release will follow once the product is hardened.
Who builds it
I've been flying flight sims since the earliest versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator, and these days it's the ToLiss Airbus in X-Plane 12. My son flies the real Airbus for a living.
Flying the sim, I kept hitting the same wall. Setting up an in-air, stabilized ILS approach that's actually ready to fly is fiddly and repetitive. Most of us end up rebuilding the same setup over and over when all we really wanted was to practice the landing.
So I built the tool I wanted. It does the setup, and I fly the approach. The longer-term goal is bigger than that: spend less time on repetitive sim setup, and more time practicing the parts of a flight you actually want to improve.
Away from the sim, I've spent more than 40 years in enterprise IT, most of it in site reliability: keeping large-scale, high-volume systems available, fast, and predictable, and chasing problems back to their root cause. Intercept comes from the same instincts. Get the setup right every time, hand off something stable, and make the repetitive part reliable so you can focus on the flying. I'm also a licensed amateur radio operator, which is where the KB1SLN name comes from.
